Some rules of thumb:
- strung bead length to finished 5 stitch rope length is 4:1
- strung bead length to stringing thread length (for
takeup) is 3:1
- use a highly twisted stringing thread to reduce the
problem of splitting threads with the crochet hook
- use upholstery thread or tatting thread vs general
crochet thread
- use a #1 crochet hook
- the next stitch is picked up from the loop with
the bead
